Get The Scoop On Overcoming Abuse With Shekeitha "Shay" Wilson's New Book - My Silent Tears

My Silent Tears: One Woman’s Journey Through Trauma, Faith, and Survival

Born in Myrtle Beach and raised in The Bronx, Shekeitha “Shay” Wilson is an author and survivor using her voice to help women break the silence surrounding abuse. Through faith, perseverance, and personal healing, Shay has transformed years of pain into a message of hope and empowerment for women facing physical, verbal, mental, and sexual abuse.

Her powerful book, My Silent Tears, serves as both a personal testimony and a source of encouragement for women who may feel trapped, isolated, or afraid to speak out. Shay says writing the book became a form of therapy and healing after enduring years of trauma and emotional darkness within abusive relationships.

Today, Shay hopes her story helps other women realize they are not alone and that healing, freedom, and strength are possible. She is also passionate about mentoring and encouraging survivors by being a listening ear for those navigating difficult situations.  Checkout Her Interview Below...

Kamau's Question:
“Shay, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to do this interview with me. I’m honored to gain personal insight into your life experiences and your powerful new book, My Silent Tears.

Especially given the recent uptick in violence against women highlighted in the media — an issue that has sadly existed since time immemorial — your book feels both timely and deeply relevant. But first, Shay, can you tell me a little about your background, like where you grew up and where you went to school?”

Shay: I was born on Myrtle Beach South Carolina. My mom brought me to New York, when I was 7 yrs old. I grew up in the Bronx.

I attended elementary school PS 126, then junior high school PS 166, then graduated high school at Jane Adams Vocational High School.

Kamau's Question: What is the title of your book and what inspired you to take the leap of faith and write it?

Shay: The title of my book (journal) is called "My Silent Tears."  Writing this was a form of therapy for me. It was my way of getting it out without being judged.

Some of the things I went through I couldn’t tell, or maybe was too embarrassed to tell.  What gave me the strength to put it out was me finally deciding to walk away from my marriage.

I was in a very dark place for awhile and I felt alone in the relationship. There wasn’t real love shown, there was no support or any real form of companionship.

Kamau: What makes your book unique or a must read for women suffering various forms of abuse?

Shay: My book is unique because I personally have suffered from every form of abuse - physical, verbal, mental and sexual abuse.  I stand here strong and proud to let all the women know that they can as well.

I’m not a drug addict.  I’m not an alcoholic.  Nor am I a mental patient.  Prayer and my faith in God brought me through, out of the darkness and into the light.

I want to let them know that they can do it as well. And I’m here willing to help talk them through or coach them through it - if I can.

I can be a listening ear.  A person who has not gone through, what you are going through, can’t possibly tell you how to cope with it.

Kamau: Do you have some red flags, girls or women, could see or detect in order to know - if someone can become abusive to them?

Shay: Some red flags are when your mate becomes less affectionate. They may start focusing more on what they don’t like about you — such as saying you gained too much weight, lost too much weight, they don’t like your hair, or claiming your attitude has changed.

They may also tell you that you are becoming less attractive in their eyes.  Another warning sign is when they stop taking you on dates or stop wanting to do things with you outside of the home.

Kamau: What are the best ways to order your book?

Shay: You can order the book on Amazon, Barnes and Noble online and Books A Million.

Kamau: If someone wants to contact you for things like book parties or interviews where can they reach out to you?

Shay: The best to reach out to me for interviews would be my email address  Shekeitha.wilson@gmail.com
